Week 4

Picture 23: Owen tries really hard to feed himself.  He often needs a bath after these attempts. Sweet potatoes are such a nice color!

Picture 24:  Brady is an AWESOME baker.  This morning he made cheese bagels  There are a few left for breakfast tomorrow morning.

Picture 25: A beautiful frozen latte with chocolate and bananas foster flavor.  It tasted as wonderful as it looks in this shot.

Picture 26: I am always attracted to public plumbing.  No idea why.  But why am I seeing this in January?
Picture 27: Reflections on the way home.   More winter looks on a day that is definitely not cold or snowy like January should be.
A recap from last week:  The following photos are all taken for the theme of a really appealing contest.  Boston.com has posted its 3rd annual "What's That?" Photo contest.  The deadline is February 5th.  The idea is to take a cool picture that looks neat even if you can't immediately figure out what you are looking at. Two more attempts follow.  I will post what they are next week if no one figures out what they are.  Kudos to the person that can identify each one first.  Post your guess in the comments.

Picture 28: Can you tell what this one is?  So many cracks and textures.  I am drawn to it.
Picture 29: Look at this one.  It just seemed to have so much character.  Why?  I have no idea why, but it does seem to have a personality which is weird for an inanimate object.
For the photos that didn't make the top 7 this week, check out my flicker stream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sonyacarlson/.  BUT, don't go until you've guessed what the mystery pictures are.  There are some versions of the above pictures that aren't so cryptic.

Week 3

Picture 16: Let's start off with a CUTE baby.  Owen is cute and playing on the quilt.
Picture 17: This is Owen in his Rastafarian Elf Hat.  He is in the car seat so he isn't super happy.
Picture 18: One of Owen's favorite foods right now: sweet potatoes with yogurt.  Babies get such BRIGHT utensils.  I want one for myself.

Picture 19: My first attempt at making you go "Hmmm......" I will say this was with the macro lens.

Picture 20: Not taken with the macro lens, but still pretty cool.  I am guessing you can guess what part of this picture is right away.
Picture 21:  Christmas colors in January.  Green and red are just so striking when you put them together.
Picture 22: This one is my favorite so far.  I am wondering if I should have cropped it a bit more.  I love the texture.

Week 2

Picture 9:  Winter growth this week includes SNOW!  We didn't get much, but snow is snow

Picture 10:  This looks like it is in a house that has been foreclosed.  WRONG!  This is our house.  Sometimes you just fix things the easiest way possible.

Picture 11:  These fluffy seeds are on the grasses we planted last year.  Very nice growth.

Picture 12:  I see Cynnie's Oreos and raise her 2 cans of Pringles.  And these are "Grab & Go Stacks"!  They have to be good, right?

Picture 13:  When there aren't any flowers outside, I have to find them inside.  Thank you Market Basket.

Picture 14:  Who knew you could find a rainbow in the produce section.  Taking pictures in the Market Basket was very fun.  If I felt bolder, I would have taken pictures of some of the shoppers and not just the items for sale.

Picture 15:  I wonder why no one wanted to buy this farm cheese loaf.  I guess friendship is not a thing associated with cheese.  Hmm....I didn't buy this either.  What does that say about me?

Week 1 + 1 day

Picture 1: A dead pig from Pompeii.  What a wild exhibit down at the Museum of Science.  And what a great tradition we've started: going to a special place on New Year's Day.

Picture 2: A 9-month-old Owen looks a lot different than the last time he was on my blog in August.  The Papa looks pretty happy too!

Picture 3: The first self portrait of 2012.  I like the way I am sooooooo serious.  'Cuz that is who I am!
Picture 4: The suggested photo for today was on the theme of "Clouds".  Since I didn't get home until after the sunset, a moonlit cloud is what I got. I actually like the moon in this shot.

Picture 5: Another suggested theme for this photo: "What I wore today".  Just be glad this isn't a smell-o-rama photo.  I went for a walk in these.

Picture 6: Only one political photo this time around.  Since the primary happens in just 2 days, there isn't much time to get out and see people.  Not that the candidates are staying long.  Although Ron Paul was on time, he was only at the Windmill Restaurant for 15 minutes.
(Side note, the guy on the left with the I-phone works with Brady's former co-worker, Andrew Walsh, out in Washington state.  They were here following the candidates for their radio show.)

Picture 7:  There is some natural greenery in January around Concord.  Not much, but some!

Picture 8: I love the color of this really bizarre looking spigot.  It seems like some sort of animal head trophy.

Come back next week for more interesting photos, hopefully!
